So I made the post and got a couple of links anchored as “monetize blog” from a couple of other sites to let Google know that the post existed and to re-enforce the topic it covered. I had planned on getting more quality backlinks to really give it a boost but I have been busy so that’s all it got.

At this point when I search for Monetize Blog from the UK I’m 7th in Google but only 33rd from the USA. Not a bad result I suppose and I’m going to put in a little more effort to see if I can get closer to the top, but why would I go to all this trouble to get ranked in Google for a keyword that isn’t much cash?

Considering the “Make Money With Adsense” and “Make Money Online” niches are such hard nuts to crack I don’t think I can hope to get anywhere near an interesting position in Google without doing things in a roundabout way. I figure that if I can start to rank for easy keywords first then Google will maybe sit up and take notice and maybe at some point in the future I might be able to start making tracks in the Make Money Online results pages.

Although I never started this make money blog with the intent of crushing the MMO SERPs it will make an interesting experiment for me at least, if not for anyone else.

I’ve done some searches in Scroogle.org just to see where I’m sitting at the moment for certain terms so that in the future we can check up to so how things have progressed.

1. How To Make Money With Adsense — 9th in SERPS
2. Make Money With Adsense — 12th in SERPS
3. Earn Money With Adsense — 8th in SERPS
4. Make Money Online — 211th in SERPS — I’ve got a little bit of work to do here!
5. Monetize Blog — 9th — Woot!! I’m going to try and take Steve Pavlina’s No.2 spot for this keyword just for fun.

As an aside, I have to say that I’m pleased with the increase in search engine traffic that I have seen over the past few weeks on Adsense | Make Money Online. A lot of it has to do with fact I have installed the KeywordLuv and dofollow plugins on the blog meaning anyone who leaves a comment on a post gets a valuable link back to their own site. Other traffic that finds its way here is searchers from Google who are using long tail keywords relating to a few general topics, namely:

1. Make money with Adsense / Google
2. dofollow links
3. The Keyword Academy

You probably noticed that in the first sentence of this post I linked the Keyword “Monetize Blog” back to my old post with the same name. Hopefully by doing so I’ve given Google more information to chew on which will result in that post ranking higher. If I can combine that with getting a few more quality backlinks we should see it climb up Google a few more spots.

Having said all that, Court is starting a new challenge which involves writing 100 blog post in one month and I’ve decided to give it a shot myself. Since this blog is a bit low on post content I’m going to give this baby quite a few posts over the next 30 days although I’ll also be trying to pump out quite few for my money sites. If things go according to plan Adsense Make Money Online and every other site I’m working on should be bulging at the seams with top quality articles by September.

How am I going to manage this? I have no idea if I’m even capable of completing this task having never tried anything similar in the past and with all the other stuff I’ve got going on its going to be a struggle. Even if I fail though I’ll no doubt learn something and hopefully the extra content I get on the web will pay dividends in the future.

Regardless of how it all goes post one is now complete, only 99 more to go.

I can say quite honestly that the vast majority of the reason for any advances I have made over the last 2 months in my quest to make money online have been from joining the Keyword Academy where I have learnt an incredible amount not just from Court and Mark but also from the many helpful members who make the forum a great place to increase your make money online knowledge.

I’ve quickly built my number of niche sites up to about 20 thanks to the keyword research techniques I’ve learnt and my sites are slowly working their way up the SERPs as I build quality backlinks from various sources.

As myself and many others have said a million times before, making money online isn’t rocket science but it does take a lot of hard work and perseverance. The how to make money online “experts” who promise to give you the secrets to online business success are selling a dream that doesn’t exist. Getting your head down and making the success for yourself by working without reward for a few months is the way to long term Internet riches.

I Made A Mistake And I’m Sorry

Back when I started this blog I made a mistake for some reason that I can’t quite comprehend but which I must none the less take responsibility for. Justin over at SEO Zombie designs wordpress themes which he happens to be damn good at and when I was looking for a theme for this site a few months ago I happened to stumble over his blog and picked up a theme.

As I was putting together this site I took out the link back to Justin’s site which is in the footer of the page, not only that but to make matters worse I put a link in my second post saying that I had used his theme and make the link nofollow. For those of you who don’t know what a nofollow link is its simply a way of tagging a link to tell google not to follow the link to the page it points to. I basically did it to conserve the Google link juice of my site without realizing what I was doing. Justin put time and effort into building the theme that I used and the least he deserved for his time and expertise was for me to give him a link back to his site as a thank you.

Anyway, a couple of hours after I put my post up I got an email from Justin telling me what me what we thought about my actions and he was quite rightly a little pissed. As soon as I received the email I realized my mistake and corrected things by reinstating the link in the footer and making the link in my post to a “dofollow” link. I also sent him an email saying sorry and telling him I had rectified my mistake.

So why in God’s name am I writing about this today, 3 months later?

I was reading a thread in the Keyword Academy forum where some people were talking about removing links to the builders of wordpress theme. Lissie of Passive Income Online fame left a link to a post that Justin had made in which he talked about the incident where I had removed the link from this site. He called me a cockhead with no morals who deserved to have nuts crushed in a vice. lol, OK, he didn’t say that but he certainly wasn’t happy and had a rant about me being a jerk.

Read his Value Of Free post here and see for yourself. I found it quite funny reading about something I had done on someone else’s blog, felt like I was having my five minutes of fame. I totally understood Justin being angry although it would have been nice if he told his readers that I had apologized and instantly corrected my mistake.

In the world I live in people make mistakes all the time and the only thing I expect from someone who makes a blunder is that they correct it and try their best not to make the same mistake again. If they say sorry for their actions, so much the better.

But at the end of the day Justin has a right to feel however he wants towards me, what bugged me was that everyone that reads his bog ends up getting tremendously angry about something that had been a newbie mistake which I had done everything in my power to sort out when it was pointed out to me. If they had known that I had reinstated the links the instant I received the email from Justin and sent an apology would they still have wanted to slap me across the face with a dirty sock? Probably not!

It seems unfortunate that people out there in Internet land are going to get angry about something I’ve mistakingly done without hearing both sides of the story which may cause them to be suspicious of everyone they come into contact with online. I mean if everyone in the SEO and MMO world gets angry about all the thieving gypsies who are only out to help themselves then the Online world is going to become a less pleasant place to be. After all the best thing about trying to make money online is the fact that so many of us help each other out to get to where we want to be together.

Anyways that’s me had my own rant on the episode so we’ll leave it at that. I just had to get it off my chest and it gave me some content to fill up this post.

I started this challenge about six weeks ago with the aim of making money from Adsense so I could be stop spending every waking hour wondering how I was going to make a living without having to go back to working for someone else. At the time I didn’t have much of an idea about what direction my efforts would take me, other than having devoured much of Grizz’s writings over at his Make Money Online For Beginners website. Grizz’s articles gave me the drive I needed to commit myself to this game full time and the belief that it was possible to succeed. What I did find was that with all the information that was available on that site for free I started to get information overload and was wondering where to start on my journey.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, Grizz’s site pointed me in the direction of the Keyword Academy where I have really found everything I need to give my make money quest a push in the right direction. The plan of action set out at the Keyword Academy has allowed me to really concentrate on the things that matter without worrying about what I should be doing on any given day. I just blindly follow the advice of two guys who have been down this path before, as long as their theories are correct then I shall be counting a vast amount of pennies before long

Problems With My Approach To Making Money With Adsense

When I started this blog I had illusions of getting my Adsense Income to $50 a day by the 1st of July but I know realize I was being overly optimistic. It takes time for sites to mature and climb up the Google rankings so even if I turn out to be building sites that are successful, it will take a few months to see the returns.

For the moment I need to keep my head down and churn out the sites in the belief that the work I am doing now is going to turn into money in the future.

Mini Update On Adsense Income

My Adsense Income seems to be rising very slowly at the moment although at least things are moving in the right direction. What I can say on a positive note is that I feel like I’ve been putting some quality work into my niches both old and new over the last month. With any luck this concerted effort will start to pay dividends in a month or two.
